LOVE CAN TELL A MILLION STORIES....
FALSETTOS is the award-winning musical by William Finn about an unconventional, dysfunctional, yet very loving family in New York in the late 1970s.
Marvin (Don Winsor, My Fair Lady, Titanic) had the perfect family with a loving wife, Trina (Sarah Shahinian, Les Miserables, Oklahoma!), and a young son Jason (Ben Jason-Easton and Riley Flood) but has left his happy home for a man called Whizzer (Sam Ward, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables). Trina soon finds herself romantically involved with Mendel (Nick Simpson-Deeks, The Play That Goes Wrong, Company), the family psychiatrist, while Jason is just trying to have a normal childhood.
When Whizzer is diagnosed with AIDS by Dr Charlotte (Francesca Arena, In The Heights, Cats) who lives next door with her partner Cordelia (Jenni Little, High Fidelity, Kinky Boots); the oddball extended family has to put aside their issues and come together. It’s a hilarious and poignant reminder that love can tell a million stories.
FALSETTOS opened on Broadway in 1992, nominated for seven Tony Awards, winning two for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. A revival opened in 2016, nominated for five Tony Awards.
